Teaching Voice and Piano I give a sturdy grounding in basic skills that will transfer to various genres, plus sight-reading, theory, and music history. Using various methods, depending on the student, I introduce classical repertoire from major periods of music, sacred, patriotic, and allow wholesome popular selections. Home schoolers permit schedule flexibility. I teach beginners to advanced, children and adults, having success with "non-singers". Summer sessions are available, as well as free evaluations before beginning lessons.
Students have annual performing opportunities: Christmas Workshop, May Recital, Honors & VOCE Recitals (ensemble) in conjunction with Merit Exams via Music Teachers Assn. of CA (MTAC). I have BA's in Voice & Music Education from Carnegie Mellon U., and an M.A. from Bob Jones U. in Sacred Music Composition. In eastern & western US I've performed as vocalist and pianist, taught elementary through college, and directed choirs; I sang at the Concergebouw in Amsterdam and have been teaching privately for 40+ years.
